The Brooklyn Museum Fiasco
I’m sure most of you have heard about the controversial art exhibit held in 1999 at the Brooklyn Museum in New York, “Sensation: Young British Artists from the Saatchi Collection.” I started writing this shortly after the controversy arose because, of course, I had some thoughts to share. Not about the exhibit itself, but about modern art and artistic motivations. However, I put this article aside for other projects. Later, I started working on this again because I realized that the inward issues of this controversy can shed some light on our culture and the culture of the bureaucracy. Please read.
